Runners run for many reasons. There are the obvious, like getting in shape and losing weight. Maybe even running because we know we should in order to be healthy. But there are other reasons that aren’t as obvious. For many, running becomes almost a form of meditation, a zen way to clear the mind.
Whatever the reason someone chooses to run, which could change from day to day, there’s no disputing that there are many physical, spiritual, and emotion benefits to it. For longer distance runners, there’s also the challenge of keeping their body healthy and avoiding injury.
